If you do enjoy it, although you may be laid off for the winter and left to your own devices, if you stick it out for a couple of years on a temporary contract you may be given a permanent one. Or you may decide that you love the job and charter was a good initiation and now you want to try out a scheduled airline, where you will probably be taken on permanently. I currently work for a long haul scheduled airline and I personally love this kind the best. Layovers the world over, meeting new people all the time, working on the biggest of aircraft, and fantastic travel concessions!
