Tips For Getting That Airline Stewardess Job
Is your dream job jetting all over the world as an airline stewardess? Are you looking for tips on how to submit the perfect application? Are you daunted by the thought of an airline interview? I have some great advice on all of these questions and more. I can clear up some of the myths people put out there about the interviews and give you the honest truth about the job that no one outside the industry is privy to.
First of all you have to really think about whether you really want to do the job, but how are you going to make that decision if you don't know what to expect from it?? Fear not, I'm here to help! I want to let you into a secret, being a flight attendant is not the best paid job, and it involves giving up a whole lot of social life and weekends. However, it is not just a career, it is a lifestyle. And it is the best lifestyle if you really embrace it!
You will have to make a decision on which type of airline you want to work for, charter or scheduled, short haul or long haul, small regional airline, or multinational corporation? Let me give you some insight to these types of airlines in the UK. I have worked in charter and scheduled, and operated both short haul and long haul. It is a completely personal preference, but here's a summary of each: with charter you will generally be employed initially in the summer months when they are busiest. This is a good way to try out the job as if you don't like it, just don't go back the following summer. If you do enjoy it, although you may be laid off for the winter and left to your own devices, if you stick it out for a couple of years on a temporary contract you may be given a permanent one. Or you may decide that you love the job and charter was a good initiation and now you want to try out a scheduled airline, where you will probably be taken on permanently. I currently work for a long haul scheduled airline and I personally love this kind the best. Layovers the world over, meeting new people all the time, working on the biggest of aircraft, and fantastic travel concessions!
